A partire dal mwaw1952 in mwbaItalia si svolse una serie di voli internazionali in pallone per lo studio delle mwbqparticelle elementari, che culminò nel mwbg1954 con il lancio di un grande pacco di mwbwemulsione nucleare, il mwcaG-Stack (“giant”-stack). Le lastre di emulsioni, esposte ad altitudini di circa 30,000 metri, erano in grado di registrare tracce complete dei prodotti di decadimento dei mwcqmesoni K (o mwcgkaoni), consentendone uno studio sistematico, in seguito all'emergere di pressanti interrogativi in seno alla mwcwcomunità scientifica. Il volo, organizzato dalle mwdauniversità di Bristol, mwdqMilano e mwdgPadova, avvenne il 12 ottobre mwdw1954 da mweaNovi Ligure e produsse importanti risultati, principalmente esposti durante la conferenza di mweqPisa del giugno mweg1955.cite-ref-1[1]
